Invitations bounce when the system attempts to deliver a survey invitation, but receives a message that the email was undeliverable or bounced. Bounces can be hard, which means the email was completely undeliverable for reasons such as the email is not recognized, or soft which means the email appears to be temporarily undeliverable. This can be due to issues such as blocked email, unknown user, inactive email account, email lacks require authentication, or domain failure.
Here are some of the bounce reasons you may see in reporting:
Technical/Other Bounce
- Server Too Busy - Receiving email server is temporarily overwhelmed with delivery attempts, from you and other senders
- Network Error - Connection Lost or Timed out
- Data Format Error - Email is rejected due to formatting or line length.

Soft Bounce
- Mailbox Full - Recipient's mailbox is full.
- Inactive Account - Email address is temporarily unavailable.
- Other
Hard Bounce
- User Unknown - Email address doesn't exist; possibly misspelled.
- Service Provider Rejected - Service Provider doesn't exist; possibly misspelled.
- Domain Unknown - Recipient's domain doesn't exist; possibly misspelled.
- Bad Address Syntax - Email address is invalid; possibly misspelled.
